Polly Dutton uses spontaneous mark making across a range of media, producing work that is vibrant, energetic and atmospheric. There is often a strong recurring motif across a series, resulting in rythmical patterns of colour, contrast and tone.
Often inspired by travel, landscape, sea and weather, much of her work aims to capture the natural elements; sun, wind rain and their effects. She works both outside and in the studio, often making preliminary sketches in pencil and charcoal.
Polly has produced imagery over a long period, having previously worked as a photographer.
